We arrived in Hervey Bay on Sunday after a marathon packing effort and a 15 hour road trip.
It was a surreal feeling waking up on Monday – we’re not on holidays, we don’t have jobs to go to – we really are doing this thing!
Even though we finished work over a week ago we hadn’t had a chance to think about the business. Moving is always hell, but we decided to add to the degree of difficulty by packing up the apartment ourselves and driving our stuff to Wagga – a good 5 hour trip from Sydney (just couldn’t say no to free storage). We then rushed back up to Sydney to clean the apartment. Needless to say everything took longer than expected and collapsing into bed at 2:30am and waking at 7am became the norm for a couple of days.
Thinking about what exciting adventures lay ahead for us was just too exhausting – we simply just needed to put one foot in front of the other until the move was complete.
However, I do recall cleaning the apartment at about 1am one day last week and saying to D, that we deserved to take a few days off once we got to Hervey Bay and just relax. He looked at me shocked and said ‘no way, I’m looking forward to getting into programing first thing Monday morning’.
The excitement and passion for what we are doing did return to me once the road trip ended AND then we were into it, with our first planning meeting at 8:30 yesterday morning.
P.S. check out this week’s daily gift ideas which are inspired by our road trip.
