Not long to go now...
With so many things going on these last few weeks this poor little blog hasn’t received the attention it deserves. Its strange to think that it was only just over a month ago that I announced on here that I was kicking off my 9-5 shoes. I’m now down to my three final days at work and our apartment is half packed – so its REALLY happening!
Anyway a quick recap of the last few weeks…
On the new business side of things D and I have been working out what functionality is a must-have for the first release of our new site. So when D finally gets the time to start developing we know exactly where we are headed. On the iPhone app front -it is finished and D just needs to submit it to iTunes for their assessment process to begin.
I’ve had my first ‘business’ meeting with a lawyer to work out what I need to do to make sure the business is set up properly from day one.
And even more importantly, we have bought a white board, index cards and sharpies – I love stationary!
I have been describing our new adventure as a downshift – we are putting at the centre of our lives what we really want to spend the majority of our days doing, rather than grabbing snippets of time after work and on the weekends to grow our own ideas. Of course we also hope it will make us a bit of money eventually!
As we part of this downshift we need to streamline / declutter our lives. We just can’t possibly take all our ‘stuff’ with us house sitting and it doesn’t make sense to store it all. So last weekend I had a “garage” sale at the Glebe Markets and sold our CD’s, DVDs, clothes and a lot of our books (D’s IT books weren’t really a hit). While it was an exhausting day it was worth it for the little extra cash that we made from our “stuff” that I would have otherwise packed up into a box indefinately.
It was also such a buzz chatting with people that were excited by our stuff – our random CD collection (the combination of someone with a cool taste in music and me that loves a good ballad and hasn’t thrown out a CD in my life), or my big collection travel books.
I guess I had better go and do some packing – I promise I’ll be back to regular blogging shortly.
