Guess what...

Welcome to my new blog (my first blog actually!) I recently realised that I interact with the world through sharing and giving – now I know that statement makes me sound like I’m a self sacrificing type, who dabbles in philosophical deep thinking, but let me elaborate:

The ‘deep’ thinking came about because I was considering what to put in my twitter profile; you know the little statement you put in under bio. I eventually came up with “eternally inquisitive” because I love, love, love discovering and learning new things.

I also get a real buzz out of sharing what I learn.

As a child I had a habit of starting my ‘sharing’ of facts or newly discovered pieces of information with my parents by saying ‘GUESS WHAT’. It then became their standard response to make up some completely unbelievable story. I would respond with an exasperated ‘muuuuuuuuuuum’ or ‘daaaaaaaaaaaaaaad’ and then launch into telling them about whatever fabulous thing / idea / fact / experience I had just discovered. As an adult I still sometimes catch myself starting a conversation with my parents with a ‘guess what’ :-)

Despite the fact I am joining the blogosphere in late 2010, I have actually developed a bit of a reputation for being an ‘early adopter’ within my circle of family, friends and work colleagues. Maybe this is because when I stumble across something new and exciting nothing is more fabulous than sharing it with others.

Now to the giving part – to rule out any lingering doubts you may have about me being a self sacrificing type, I’ll admit right off the bat that I love giving myself little presents!

Most recent present to self – last Thursday during my lunch break I gifted myself a pedi and orchid for my desk at work!

I also love thinking of THE perfect gift for my friends and family, which is a little bit different – a little bit ‘outside of the box’.

So that brings me back to what I hope to do on this blog – unfortunately I don’t have enough money, or in fact enough friends and family to make use of all of these ideas. So I thought I would share them with you…
